For some time, I've been looking for connections with the families of two daughters and the one son of John Scott and Catherine McDermid: Jessie born 1869 and Kate born 1866; James, born 1961. In 1881, I believe Jessie and Kate were living with the family of Archibald & Mary Brown in Simcoe County, Ontario. (Their father had died & the mother remarried (twice?),moved to the U.S.A. and died quite soon after that. )
Jessie married John W. Martin, son of James Martin & Elizabeth Wood of Altoona, Pennsylvania, in Port Huron, Michigan in 1889. (John W. Martin's mother was Jessie Scott's uncle's sister in law.)
In 1892, Kate (Catherine) Scott married George Wedgerfield, son of William and Sara (Mathews?) Wedgerfield of Carnarvon, Ontario.
If you have other information about these Martin or Wedgerfield families, please contact me.
James Scott married Nellie Baxter in Detroit, Michigan, USA, in July 1893. They both died in Dayton, Ohio, USA in 1937 and 1936 respectively. I do not believe they had any children, however, Nellie's sister, Mary, married Robert M. Adams and they did have children, born in Michigan - Helen M. Adams, born about 1909, Everett H. Adams, born about 1913, and Virginia Adams, born about 1915.

I've just added some members of the family of John Peddie & Margaret Daw(e)s, who I believe were married in the Parish Church of Holy Island, Northumberland, England, in 1848. They then lived at South Hylton West in England, & possibly Sunderland, Durham,England before moving to Grangemouth, Stirlingshire, Scotland about 1864.

My great great grandfather, James Scott, was married at the Tushielaw Inn on
the Ettrick in Selkirkshire, Scotland in 1841. The
Inn is no longer in business.
Here's a link to a "Map of Selkirkshire or Ettrick Forrest", by John Ainslie, about 1773. (National Library of Scotland, Digital Library)
